Spectrio Media Players will only initiate connection with present Spectrio Media servers. All content is pulled from servers known by the player and is authenticated before use.
Spectrio Media Players pass the Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance requirements and tests.
Standard Requirements
- Cat5 network connection
- DHCP, or pre-supplied Static IP
- HTTPS (port 443) access to servers
- NTP access to time.android.com
- RCA input on amplifier
- < 20MB per night average bandwidth
Overhead Music Only Requirements
- Standard Audio Amplifier
- 3.5mm-to-RCA cable (supporting either stereo or mono channel configurations)
- Router to connect Player via Ethernet cable
Network Requirements
Firewall Settings: The player uses HTTPS (port 443) to reach cloud servers. Please ensure the following hosts and IP addresses are allowlisted.
Note: Whenever possible, add firewall permissions based on Host Name as opposed to IP Address. This’ll minimize future changes.
NTP Time Server: For accurate time, access to an NTP time server (time.android.com) is required. Along with this, you’ll allowlist TCP Port 80 (HTTP) & UDP Port 123 (NTP).
Notes:
- Media players can optionally be configured to use a company’s HTTP proxy server.
- Media players use DHCP to automatically obtain network configuration. If DHCP is not supported, a static IP configuration can be pre-loaded before your player is sent out.
Bandwidth Requirements
As your player doesn’t require a constant internet connection, content continues to play for days even when connection is lost. Bandwidth usage typically averages under 20MB per night.
Players are pre-programmed to transfer content outside of store hours and stagger these transfer times. Bandwidth throttling (limiting) and download windows can be customized to ensure your player never exceeds specified bandwidth.
WiFi Requirements
Note: We recommend connecting to the Internet via an ethernet cable to your router.
WiFi players can be set by connecting your device to a display via an HDMI cable or by contacting Spectro Support to have the player set remotely.
If setting via HDMI cable, use the provided remote control to select Settings from the home screen, then open the Network tab and toggle on Wi-Fi. From here, you’ll select the network you’d like to connect to.
The player supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks with open/WPA/WPA2 encryption. WEP encryption, 5.0GHz networks. Networks with a Terms of Service page aren’t supported.
